Title: Transitional Senior Pastor

About Us
St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Redondo Beach, California, is a biblically-centered, intergenerational church with a loving and welcoming body of members that faithfully serves the surrounding community.  St. Andrew’s seeks a Transitional Senior Pastor who will: (i) preach the Gospel, (ii) provide pastoral care, and (iii) guide the congregation and its leadership through the process of calling a permanent Senior Pastor.

Duties:
1) Guide the Congregation through the process of hiring a new Senior Pastor, including but not limited to:

• Lead discussion and discernment of the congregation’s requirements and desired qualities for a new Senior Pastor, while facilitating reflection on previous pastoral strengths and weaknesses.

• Assist the congregation in assessing its areas of strength as well as areas where growth is needed.

• Advise Session on procedures to call a new Senior Pastor, as outlined in the Presbyterian Church (USA) Book of Order.

• Provide guidance to the Pastor Nominating Committee as needed.
  

2) Preach the Gospel three or more Sundays per month, delegating additional preaching opportunities to other staff members, and lead in worship, including administration of sacraments.

3) Serve as Head of Staff, providing administrative leadership for the whole church program, with an eye toward present and future opportunities for spiritual and congregational growth.

4) Provide pastoral care, including visitation as needed, in sickness and crisis situations.

5) Work with boards and committees as required to assist them in carrying out their assigned ministries, including lay-led adult education and community outreach.

6) Train newly elected officers in conjunction with the staff and members of the Session.

7) Further the Vision, Objectives and Goals of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church as defined by the Session.

• Continue the congregation’s present momentum in the areas of prayer, biblical focus, and Christ-like love to members, visitors, and the community, while strengthening the congregation’s intergenerational, transformational, and missional ministries.

8) Officiate weddings and funerals as requested.

Qualifications/Requirements:
Graduate of a nationally recognized seminary or divinity school.

• 2-5 years minimum experience as a Senior Pastor and Head of Staff.

• A Reformed and evangelical theology consistent with the Essential Tenets of The Fellowship Community (available at https://www.fellowship.community/who-we-are).

• Training and experience as a Transitional Pastor preferred.
